It's pretty funny how certain topics take over the blog world at the same time. Lately, I've been reading some posts about scrapbooking pictures and guess why I haven't posted anything in so long...I was scrapbooking! As much as I would like to call myself a scrapbooker, it would be a lie seeing as how in the 3.5 years I've lived here, I've scrapbooked ONCE. And that was Isabel's baby shower! Like a lot of you, I have boxes of photos pre-digital camera, and then I have TONS of digital photos saved on my computer (I actually think the amount of pictures I've saved is why our desktop is slowly dying). On top of this, I also save EVERYTHING, greeting cards for every birthday and holiday, ticket stubs, programs, invitations, announcements, etc...That's twice as much stuff sitting around in boxes and not in scrapbooks. And instead of a scrapbooker, you should probably call me a scrapbooking SHOPPER! I have sooo much stuff that I have purchased over the last 10 years. And of course it takes up space. So sometime in December, I decided I did NOT want to move it all again this summer. (Yes, our time here is up.) So I checked out the calendar and designated last weekend, a three day weekend, my weekend to do nothing but scrapbook. I talked it over with Tom and he agreed to take the kids all weekend, except for feeding Alexis of course. Now the other part of this was that a few friends were going to join me and help me use up my stuff, but that didn't work out due to family reasons. Of course that means we'll just have to do it another weekend as well!
Now part of the reason I had to "coordinate" this with Tom is that when I scrapbook, I get all of that "stuff" out and cover every horizontal surface in sight. This drives my husband CRAAAZY! So now he was at least prepared for the chaos. I got everything out, organized some stuff, and "planned" several pages the week prior (Tom ended up having to go out of town the weekend before so I got a head start). Tom was great, did all of the cooking, kept the kids busy as well as could be expected, although I think Isabel caught the scrapbooking bug, and after ONLY 2 trips to the craft store I ended up getting some 40+ pages finished and a lot more started. I am so excited!!! And the best part, if you ask Tom anyway, is the amount of stuff I threw away! I was pretty excited about it as well. I'm hoping I can get one more weekend in before we move. Just thinking of the stuff I could throw away is enough to convince Tom!

Over Christmas, my mom and I read and ad for a scrap booking bed and breakfast. You go to this place with all your pictures and your friends:). They provide everything you need to scrapbook (and I mean EVERYTHING!), beds, and food. We are going to do this as soon as we can find 10 other women to go with us (so we can have the whole place to ourselves) and babysitters for ALL the children!
Oh, and I think my scrapbook has 5/6 pages in it, all made at scrapbooking parties. Too bad those didn't keep going. I could have had a couple books done by now. And, yes, I'm a buyer, too. Although, I haven't bought anything in about a year. I'm just waiting at this point.
You're inspiring me. I have many years scrapbooked, but haven't done one page in two years -- that's a lot of catching up to do. Maybe I need to schedule a weekend, too. The idea of being caught up is VERY atttractive.
I am a scrapbooking reject. I'm so far behind it's rather intimidating. Maybe one of these days I'll get my act together. By the way, I've nominated you for a special award over KateWicker.blogspot.com.Thanks for always encouraging me! God bless!
This isn't about scrapbooking but it is about books--you got a mention on This That and The Other Thing in a book Meme.
This post is inspiring. My 7 month old still has 0 pages in her baby album.
Hey -- don't feel bad -- I think a lot of scrapbookers are big scrapbook shoppers too. ;)
I'm looking forward to doing a little scrapbooking with my Mom on Sunday! :)
